Utopia Machine

Utopia Machine was an immersive performance event exploring how our emotions are manipulated by social media and the algorithms that determine the content of our newsfeeds. This multimedia production considers the ways utopic visions are used to produce feelings of belonging and questions our hope that political leaders that share our views will lead us to those utopias. By inviting audience members to directly engage with this “utopia machine,” the performance troubles the distinction between fiction and reality, blurring the line between the ethereal world of the digital and the material embodiment of the “real.”
